1. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in the browser of the person visiting it. Among other things, cookies are used to remember preferences, keep a session open or gather information about how the site is used. Alongside cookies there are other browser storage technologies, such as local storage and session storage, which this policy also covers.

2. Which cookies this website uses

This website uses a single, first-party, strictly technical cookie. It does not use analytics, advertising, ad-personalisation or social media cookies, and it contains no third-party cookies.

Name Ownership Type Purpose Duration
pll_language First party Technical / preference To remember the language (Spanish or English) selected by the user, so that the site is displayed in that language on subsequent visits. It is set by the Polylang multilingual system. 1 year

Other browser storage technologies

The Elementor page builder and WordPress itself use the browser’s local and session storage for purely technical purposes (remembering the state of interactive elements such as galleries, tabs or pop-ups, and checking whether the browser supports certain characters). These are:

  • elementor (local and session storage) — operation of the page’s interactive components.
  • wpEmojiSettingsSupports (session storage) — technical browser compatibility check.

This information is not sent to any server, does not identify the user and, in the case of session storage, is deleted when the browser is closed.

No external resources

Every resource that makes up this website — images, stylesheets, scripts and fonts — is served from the carloschadacastro.com domain itself. The typefaces used (Cinzel, EB Garamond, Roboto, Roboto Slab and Poppins, all of them openly licensed) are hosted on the site’s own server and are not loaded from external services, so browsing this website does not disclose the user’s IP address to any third party. Nor does the site embed videos, maps, social media buttons or any other third-party content.

3. Why no cookie banner is displayed

Article 22.2 of Spanish Law 34/2002 on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (LSSI-CE) requires the user’s consent to be obtained before cookies are installed, except for those strictly necessary to provide a service expressly requested by the user.

According to the Guidelines on the use of cookies issued by the Spanish Data Protection Agency, cookies for “user interface customisation” — such as those that remember the selected language — are exempt from the consent requirement, provided that the selection was made by the user and the cookie is not used for any other purpose.

Since the only cookie on this website is the one that remembers the chosen language, and no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies of any kind are used, there is no legal requirement to obtain prior consent by means of a cookie banner. This policy is published in order to comply with the duty to inform.

If non-exempt cookies were added in future — for example, web analytics tools or embedded third-party content — a consent mechanism would be implemented beforehand and this policy would be updated.

4. How to manage or delete cookies

You can allow, block or delete the cookies installed on your device through your browser settings. If you block the language cookie, the website will continue to work normally, although you will need to select your language on each visit.

Most browsers also offer a private browsing mode that prevents cookies from being stored permanently.

5. Cookies and personal data

The cookie described in this policy does not collect data that identify a specific individual and is not used for profiling. General information on the processing of personal data on this website is available in the Privacy Policy.

6. Further information

Additional information on the use of cookies is available in the Guidelines on the use of cookies published by the Spanish Data Protection Agency.

7. Updates to this policy

This Cookie Policy is reviewed periodically and may be amended if the cookies used or the applicable legislation change. Any change will be published on this page, updating the date shown at the top of the document.
